When you register for ProfilePilot, we collect your email address and a username of your choice. You may optionally provide additional information through your profile modules, including work experience, education history, skills, certifications, and other professional details.
We use your information to operate and maintain your profile, publish your public profile page, communicate with you about your account, and improve our service. Your public profile is visible to anyone who visits your profile URL.
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with third-party service providers necessary to operate the platform (hosting, content delivery, email delivery). These providers are contractually bound to protect your data.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your profile data within 30 days. Backup copies may persist for up to 90 days.
We also record first-party product events (such as which features you use, when you complete onboarding, and when a feature reports an error) tied to your account. These quality-of-service signals are kept for 12 months and then permanently deleted. They are used to operate and improve the service and are never shared with third parties. When you delete your account, these events are deleted with it.
You can access, update, or delete your data at any time from your dashboard. You may export your profile data using the export feature. For data requests not handled through the dashboard, contact us at the email address below.
We use essential cookies and similar local storage for authentication and to remember your theme preference (light or dark mode). These are strictly necessary for the service to work and do not require your consent.
We also use web-analytics and tag-management tooling (Google Tag Manager, and analytics configured through it) to understand how the product is used and improve it. This tooling only runs if you consent and may set third-party analytics cookies. Marketing and advertising cookies are only used if you separately consent to them.
Separately from that tooling, we record minimal first-party product events in our own systems (see section 4). These are functional, quality-of-service signals about your use of the service — for example which features you use and whether a feature failed — and are not subject to the consent banner because they are required to operate and improve the service. They are never used for advertising, never shared with third parties, and never used to track you across other websites.
Your consent choice is stored in your browser's local storage (not in cookies) and is not included in cached page responses. You can change your choice at any time from the cookie banner or the Cookie settings link in the website footer and below.
When you are signed in, we record first-party product events tied to your account — for example when you complete onboarding, publish your profile, create a share link, apply a theme or layout, generate a resume, or encounter a feature error. These signals are used to operate the service (for example to detect a broken feature) and to improve it. They are quality-of-service signals, not behavioural tracking: they do not follow you across other websites, are never shared with third parties, and are stored only in our own database.
Because they are necessary for the operation and security of the service, these events are recorded without requiring separate consent. This is a deliberate boundary: anything that is not necessary for the service to work (marketing, analytics, advertising) requires your consent and stays in the consent-gated tooling described above.
